Overview

Problem
Growing companies rely on fragmented HR tools and manual workflows, causing payroll errors, approval bottlenecks, and low employee trust.

Solution
I designed a role-based, modular HRMS that balances automation with explainability across HR managers, line managers, and employees.

My role
End-to-end Product Designer (UX strategy, IA, flows, UI, edge-case design)

Outcome
A scalable HR platform that reduces operational ambiguity, enforces compliance, and improves employee transparency.

Why This Problem Is Hard

Why This Problem Is Hard

Why This Problem Is Hard

Why This Problem Is Hard

Most HR products fail because they:

  • Optimize for HR only

  • Over-automate sensitive workflows

  • Hide consequences (deductions, penalties, approvals)

Users & UX Strategy

Users & UX Strategy

Primary Roles

  1. HR Manager: Needs control, auditability, and compliance

  2. Line Manager: Needs speed without breaking policy

  3. Employee: Needs clarity and fairness

Core tension

Speed vs control vs trust

Design Principles

  1. Role-based visibility → Users only see actions they can legally perform

  2. No silent system actions → Every payroll, penalty, or approval is explainable

  3. Progressive complexity → Advanced controls appear only when needed

  4. Audit-first design → Every change is traceable

To position the brand effectively, I analysed 10+ startup community websites and identified recurring patterns:

  • Overuse of saturated gradients and startup clichés.

  • Poor narrative flow — users struggled to understand “why the community exists.”

  • Limited emotional connection in the visual tone.

The insight: Founders trust clarity over complexity. The brand needed to speak in a calm, confident, and intelligent tone — positioning Empowered Founders as a partner in progress, not another loud startup club.

Key UX Flows

Key UX Flows

Key UX Flows

Employee Onboarding Flow

  1. HR adds employee → basic details (name, email, role)

  2. System sends invite email → secure setup link

  3. Employee sets password → first-time login

  4. Employee dashboard access:
    → track time
    → request leave
    → view payslips
    → submit expenses
    → see holidays & notices

Sensitive actions → approval required
